What was the updates to the "k3" vs "k4" on the HRX217VKA?

For the VKA model, essentially no changes. The shape of the foam grips is the only difference documented in the shop manual between the K3-->K4.
So why did it change to a K4? All HRX models were bumped to the K4 code when the new VLA and updated HZA models were launched [new-style electric start design].
