i have a troy bilt 21inch self propel mower. the drive cable snapped and i am replacing it with a new one. when i installed the new cable, there is not enough tension on the fingertip control handle that sits atop the handlebar. i must not have connected the cable underneath the housing properly. can someone help me with that item? thx

here's the answer: remove the grass catcher bag and at the rear of the frame there is a vertical slit that the end of the driver cable slides into and provides the tension for the lever that is attached to the handlebar...the plastic shroud under the frame must be removed in order to accomplish this task, but patience pays off since there are a handful of screws to remove...one of the wheels must also be removed, but is easily done...roughly a one hour or so task (model series 834, 21 inch self propelled mower)
