i just got a old 1979 toro whirlwind ride on lawn mower its the kind that looks like a hoverround scooter. it has a 3 speed trans the input is a belt on the bottom and the out put is a chain to the rear shaft. yesterday when riding it around it just stopped and the belt started smoking. now i dont know if the trans is locked or if the belt was just bad. but when in neutral i cant spin the trans by hand is that normal or is the trans locked up. also if the trans is locked how to i fix it and what could have caused this. thanks
