Greetings,

I have a Toro 20005 self propelled lawnmower. The right front wheel drags from time to time, making it hard to push. It will turn freely if pulled backwards. When self propelled it works fine.

I am wondering if it could be in the gear box, but since the drive works, I am not sure.

What say the experts?

Thanks.

I believe there is a clutch like device in those wheel assemblies.
Here is a link to downloadable service manual for those machines.

:ditto: There should be a clutch in each wheel that allows it to spin independently from the drive system. Sometimes they get gummed up or sticky and don't operate properly.

That would make sense since the transmission seems to work. So, I would need to take off the gear that drives the wheel? That I can do.

Will do that tomorrow and report back.

Thanks.

Good call, easy fix. Wasn't totally gummed up but just enough to cause some problems. Oiled the front and back of the gear on both wheels, and now it will roll easily to Cleveland. LOL

Thanks again for everyones help.
