Great forum, glad I found it, first post. I have a 1982 or 83 Toro 2 cycle mower, homeowners model, Model 20680, that has no spark. I tried cleaning the points, no luck. Found NOS points and condensor on ebay and put them in. Still no spark. I am thinking it is the coil. I pulled the spark plug wire out and it seems to me the screw stud is broke off. Anyway I need a coil, part 81-1430. Toro does not make it any more. An internet search turns up nothing.

Any ideas or is there a different part number for newer models of the same mower. Love the Toro 2 cycles! Thanks

ok update. Found out it was not the coil, it was the spark plug wire. I thought I would check the wire and twisted it out, thinking it had a screw in stud at the bottom end like a snowmobile coil. It does not, it was soldered on. Anyway once I got the wire off I checked conductivity, and it had none. I then had to file part of the plastic down on the coil and solder a new spark plug wire on. So I should be back in business.

Now question: What should the point gap be on this Suzuki engine? It was at .008 in. B&S engines call for .020 in. Anyone know?
