Too much gas
I have a mtd 18hp b&s tractor, when i engage blades it bogs down. when i;am done cutting it has burned three times as much gas. I've changed plugs cleaned carb new air filter, I'am stuck. any ideals would help thanks.

Is this something that just all of a sudden happened, or gradually got worse?
It sounds like there could be an obstruction somewhere. Have you looked on both sides of the mowing deck & the tractor itself? Perhaps an adjustment somewhere putting too much tension on one of the belts?

I did just replace the deck belt i'll check for proper tension thank you.Welcome to the site!
