So I went and done it again, grabbed up another project. My poor wife doesn't know what to do with me and I'm pretty sure she thinks I've lost my mind.
It's a '73 408 rider. I had one of these years ago and sold it to a friend who still has and uses it. I guess I just didn't know what I had at the time and always kind of regretted selling it.
It will be mostly used to entertain my grand kids, letting them ride around the farm when they come by for a visit.
But for now it will wait it's turn while I finish up a few other things I have started. I will be going through the mechanical and electrical portions and making it a solid runner then once the kids got better at driving it without hitting anything I'll do the paint and new decals.
I'll pick this thread back up again when I get to working on it but for now here's some pictures to wet your appetites.

There's plenty of issues to address but it runs good. It'll need new rubber and some general maintenance and I'll need to weld up a crack in the transmission case. It's aluminum and I've fixed that before so it shouldn't be too bad.
Stay tuned.

Don, I think your wife is happy with you knowing that you are staying out of trouble. ;)
Looks like a new fun project that I'm sure you will do a great job on. I'll be watching :)

Thanks gents, I know I say this just about every time but this will be a fun project. I'm hoping the get the kids involved too.
I'm going to have to cool off picking up machines for a while. Besides having a ton of work ahead of me I'm running out of places to store them.
AND this followed me home this morning. It had to, it was attached to my hitch. :ROFL

I've been wanting one of these for a few years just never pulled the trigger. I couldn't pass this deal up. I need to make a hitch adapter for it so I can tow it with my 816 rider and take care of the general maintenance. Other than that it's a solid runner.

Fine looking 408, Don. Is that from John? Either way, congrats. I know you'll bring it back to a happy place
