I have a New Zealand built towed brush cutter been left outside, wouldn't start fitted new coil cleaned magnet with emery paper it now starts but runs really rough ,removed carb stripped it down cleaned it rebuilt it no difference, sounds like a 2 cylinder running on 1, is it possible that the magnet on the flywheel being seriously pitted could cause this, should have said its a single cylinder formula XL/C 10hp

being on a brush cutter, i would check the flywheel key..it aligns the flywheel to the crankshaft for proper ignition timing. if it's sheared any it will either not start or in some cases run very very rough.
