My wife and I went out for a bite to eat tonight at a place in Davenport, IA not far from the river. There's lots of eagles around here this time of year, and it's fun to watch them flying around and diving to catch fish out of the river.

While I looked around watching the eagles and gulls on the down stream side of Lock and Dam 15, I couldn't help but notice how pretty the sun set was, so I thought I'd share a short video. Sorry, it was taken from my phone.

The view is from Lock and Dam 15, which is at the western tip of the Rock Island Arsenal. As I pan across, there were at least 12 eagles in the trees just past the locks. Then you'll see downtown Rock Island, IL, my home town, the Centennial Bridge that connects Illinois and Iowa, the Rhythm City, a river boat casino on the Iowa side, and finally the sunset.

Beautiful! I especially like the end where it's setting over the bridge. There's nothing like a gorgeous sunset during a nice evening. Makes me miss summer, but it will be there to look forward to.

I'll bet it was fun watching those Eagles too. They always seem so proud when they soar.

Yes they do. This time of year around here is especially fun because so many eagles come to this area to feed along the river. It is truly awe inspiring to watch them. And really quite something to drive along the roads that parallel the river and to have them in a tree just above looking down at you.

Alcoa has a huge plant here, and there is a pair of eagles that have built a nest on their grounds. They've been named Liberty and Justice. Alcoa managed to position a camera above their nest so you can watch them. The female laid her first egg of the year the other day.

Scroll down the page a bit to see the eagle cam.

That is a sight that I will never forget, the ole Miss, the bridges ,the Dam and Eagles.
I used to live about a half mile from lock and Dam 21, not to far down stream.
Thanks for the video, great !

Very nice, Bruce. Thanks for sharing. Great video of the river and adjacent scenery.

I saw the eagle on her nest the other day and wondered if she'd laid an egg. Linda and I followed their progress last year after you mentioned the website during dinner last year. We'll be following them again this spring.
