Hey guys. I have a STX 38 hydro. I bought another mower last spring and let this one sit out all summer and fall. The finally got around to working on it, and have everything working good except for one issue. Pulling it back into reverse is almost impossible. Forward is not too bad. Any thoughts or advice?? Anything would be appreciated.. Thanks!!

Welcome to the site!

When you mention pulling it back, I assume by hand like to move it around? If so, are you engaging the hydrostatic relief lever on the back?

If it is not opperating correctly when you are driving it, it sounds as if there is something going on with the hydro itself like it may be losing pressure.

Thanks Austen. When I am driving it, I can push the lever forward relatively easy, and it retains the same speed and power it always had. However, when I pull back to go in reverse, it is very difficult once it gets past the neutral position. I can manage to get it to slowly crawl in reverse, but it takes a lot of effort... Not sure what you mean by hydrostatic relief lever. You mean where it can freewheel? Thanks!

Well, I got it. Took the tire off and squirted a little WD on the linkage. Ran it a little bit and it came loose...I am pretty relieved..
Good deal!
