Hi all, brand new to owning a riding mower and I am excited to get to mowing this spring! I just purchased a new 2015 Husqvarna YTH22v46. The mower sat outside of the store for all of 2015 in the Texas sun and the seat material is cracked, but besides that, she is brand new has never even been run.

I have read the manual on the starting procedures and put the battery on a charger. Are there any tips or tricks to firing up the motor for the first time? Any tips for priming the fuel system for the quickest start? Before I turn the key, I just want to make sure I can do everything to keep this mower going for many years to come.

Many thanks,
Mike

Be sure to check the oil and fuel levels. These units should have already been run when they were put in service so priming the fuel system shouldn't be necessary.

You've asked the same question all those before you have pondered... We always want to get the most life out of our machine. Just by your interest I'm sure you're going to do fine. That thing is destined to get some more Texas sun I'm sure... :ROFL But after you soak that up and follow the manufactures suggested maintenance and care you'll be in good shape. :2th:

You've already taken the first step to starting that new tractor! You've read the owner's manual. Now all you have to do is follow what it says, and enjoy that new machine.

Awesome, thank you guys very much. Fuel tank is bone dry, but the oil level is full. Guess I'll go get a fresh gallon of gas and hook up the battery tonight. drive it up to the mail box, just to say I did something useful with it

Guess I can't post a video on here, but I filled it with fuel, fired it up, performed the recommended purge of the transmission, and took it for a short test ride across the lawn. Now I just need some grass to grow!
