Here's Scag electric clutch trouble shooting information I found:

Probably the best plan of attack to sort it out would be wait until it gets hot and cuts out, then measure and see if it is still getting voltage to it. If it's getting voltage to the clutch, measure the resistance of the clutch windings. Might be they are opening up once hot.
