Has anyone else bought/used "Rotary" brand parts for their LawnBoy? I bought a piston/ring/wristpin set for my F-100 engine recently and was less than impressed.
The piston seemed very slightly undersize, but the thing that bothered me most was that the wrist pin circlip grooves were cut way to deep. The circlips are not at all tight - they flop around in the grooves. I have always understood that this is very bad.
I ended up putting the original piston back in (which had some minor scoring) rather than risk a circlip popping out and jamming in the exhaust port and destroying the cylinder.

Maybe this piston is an isolated defective part. Has anyone else run into this?

They are sold by various parts houses. In fact, if you are not buying a genuine LawnBoy part, I'd guess there might be a good chance this is what you are buying. I've seen them from several suppliers at varying prices, I've also seen them being sold on eBay. I got mine at Mfg supply for $21, and I've seen them as cheap as $16 elsewhere.
The Rotary part number is 23-2749.

It looks nice enough, but if I were to buy another piston for my F100 engine, I'd make sure I bought the genuine Lawn Boy part. The QC on the Taiwanese made Rotary piston just don't seem to be good enough.
