Being able to find information about your Briggs and Stratton engines is important when looking for the right parts or just plain doing research. Briggs and Stratton explains how to read the engine codes they stamp on their engines here on this page.

Once you find the correct number, you should be able to obtain parts lists and owner's manuals in pdf form. You may have to try entering your numbers different ways, such as without the spaces shown on the engine.

i found that out kind of the hard way...years ago i went looking for parts and after a 10 mile drive one way the dealer said he would need that information...so back home i went to get the info....i guess i learned something that day or at least i should have

I have a Briggs & Stratton 7 hp OHV Horizontal shaft off tiller. The crank shaft has broken and hole in side plate has wollowed out. The numbers I find are on the valve cover,top # 990920FD no spaces, next set of # under first # (121412 0158 E1).

Please Help.
I hate to junk this one.

Yep, they can be puzzling. And making your way around the B&S site isn't all that easy. :confused:
