My 282h07-0196-e1 poulan pro riding mower was running rough and dying. I took it to the repairman last summer and he put a new oem carburetor on it and replaced the plug and air filter. Also put a new battery on it. It ran for a while and then died and I gave up on it.

Last week I got back at it and cleaned the carb, reset the valve clearance and put another new plug. It ran for a minute or two and the muffler started glowing orange, so I turned it off.

I had replaced the flywheel key last summer, but I checked it again and it was sheared. So I replaced the key and started it up. It still revved up and got hot enough to make the muffler glow.

So I watched some YouTube and got the idea that it was shearing the key because I didn't tighten the flywheel bolt good enough. So I tightened it real good. Didn't have a torque wrench, but did my best (I'm not strong enough to crack it, I hope)

That seemed to do the trick. It ran good, no popping or backfire and I drove it around the yard.

Only problem is when I engage the blades, the engine looks like it's shaking. It's not popping or backfiring like it was, but it just looks like it's "jumpy". Seems to be cutting ok. What do yall think?

Oh, also, it doesn't want to idle down when I pull down the throttle.

Ok. I replaced the blades with brand new ones and the old blades were warped. But, it's still shaking. I looked at the pulleys while it was engaged and the pulley that holds tension is shaking back and forth a lot. So I'm thinking either a bad pulley or belt. What do yall think?

It's possible that you bent the crank shaft. First, make sure all engine mounting bolts are tight, but don't break one. If the double pully, or PTO pully comes off, place a straight edge next to the shaft and rotate the engine. If bent, I would not try to straighten it.
