Hi.......I am new to this forum and am considering buying a lawn tractor. I have 2/3 acre with lots of leaves in the fall so looking for something to cut grass as well as mulch and bag leaves. May also use it for plowing my driveway in the winter. I am considering buying something used and there is a lot of stuff on craigslist in my area. I saw a couple of older Sears tractors which appeared to be in good shape but they both sold already. I have attached a pic of another one. One had Kohler and the other B&S. They were six-speeds. What do you think of this generation of Sears tractors and what are the areas to look at?

Thanks..........Scott

Those older Sears/Craftsman models such as the GT6000 you pictured are without a doubt very hefty tractors compared to the newer ones available today. I had one of those for a short time and they certainly would have to power/ durability for a job like snowplowing. They were available with the Kohler Magnum 18 engine and a Briggs & Stratton 18hp engine. I would say that the kohler is the better of the two options, but you will want to be certain that it doesn't have any problems because parts are more expensive for those than the Briggs engine.

Hope this helps and enjoy the forum!
