Since Five Points deciphered the other data tags, thought I would try one. The push mower has the following tag, SN 74079829 Model 21351. Does this mean,
21 inch cut
3.5 HP engine
Pull Start?
Also which number is the date code?

The date code for the Briggs and Stratton engine is on the front or side of the shroud, And is the last set of numbers Marked "CODE" the first two numbers of the "CODE" Should be the year of manufacture.

The engine in this picture was made on Oct 5th 2006. The last two numbers are the plant It was manufactured at I believe.. Although I could be wrong.

Correct Smitty, 21351 means 21" cut, 3.5hp and the 1 is the series number of the mower. Series 1 ran from 1983 thru 1987 or 88 as far as I know. The way to decipher the year a snapper was built is by the first digit in the s/n. The first digit refers to the last digit in the year built. Yours starts with a 7 so it was built in 1987. Hope that helps you.
