On a Briggs without a dipstick, what is the correct oil level? On one of the engines it says to add oil till it overflows out the fill port, but I though you added till it touches the bottom of the threads for the fill plug.:dunno:

I've always filled mine to the top of the port short of over flowing. I have one old Briggs engine with no threads on the cap. Instead there is an internal spring that holds it in place and you tip the cap to the side to fill it.

:ditto: That's what I do. The difference between the bottom of the threads and the top isn't enough to make a difference. As long as the dipstick reads full you should be fine.

In the service book (manual) it says top of threads.
