My guess would be that there would be a plug along the side/bottom of the engine, but short of that, is it possible that there is access underneath the mower to reach it?

What is the model number of the machine and which brand engine?

OK, I took a look at a schematic. It looks like it has a drain valve that goes into the engine, then the oil comes out and goes thru a small hose 90 degrees to the valve. Looks like it has a plastic knob that turns to release the oil. If you look and see a small hose with a crook in it, that's it. Take a look here. Number 24 is what you are looking for.

Like I say "New and Improved" generally isn't new and definitely not improved!

Maybe a little piece of garden hose could be used to assist in the operation. Good luck, and come back and join us occasionally.

I don't know your particular setup but I've heard of some guys going to the hardware and buying a handful of pipe elbows, unions, stubs and a plug then cobbling together an extension to get outside the frame.

Sometimes you have to wonder if the design engineers have ever repaired or done any of their own maintenance.
