It is an impressive piece of machinery. Thought you all would like to see what I get to work on. It is a QSK78 generator unit. 78 liters displacement, 18 cylinder, 3500 horse power. 6 turbochargers, 6 aftercoolers. The generator is rated at 2700kw, 4160 volts. Enough to power a small town or Five Points shop. They have 6 of these at one location.

That would be something to stand next to it while it's running!

Thanks for posting the photo!

Some more tidbits, I am 6ft.3 and my head is level with the top of the aftercoolers. Holds 110 gallons oil and 165 gallons of coolant. These units are made in Daventry England. An industrial version of this engine can be found in large haul trucks. They have 12 turbochargers, so no matter what altitude they are at, power will always be 3500. Last year my company released 2 more large engines, a 90 liter and a 120 liter V-20. Look them up, Cummins Hedgehog. ( What a code name!)

Cool! I would love to look that over while running under load!

I Googled the specs but did not see an rpm listed for the generator. I saw it was a 4 pole so can I assume it is governed @ 1800 rpm?
