Currently rebuilding a Snapper 33115S. I need to get the hubs off to replace bearings. They are a booger! Three jaw puller and it won't budge. Any suggestions?
Not being too familiar with that brand, I would say maybe a small amount of heat, providing there is no plastic that would be affected. Other than that, plenty of penetrating oil/lube to loosen it up.
It is an OLD rear engine rider. 33" cut. Been sitting out in the elements for at least 3 years. Honda 11HP engine. Got carb rebuilt and engine is running good. Now time for the rest of the mower. Mowed twice with this mower and has a good cut but I know it needs a lot of work. Stood it on its rear end and the (now looking at the bottom) right axle has a lot of wobble. Other small issues but really need to get this "hub" off first. I'll put the propane torch to it and see if that busts it loose. I already tried a small little soldering torch I had but to no avail. Lots of penetrating oil has been applied
Heated it up....3 jaw gear puller and a BIG hammer.. all to no avail. Cut if off with a sawzall. The bearing on that side(no rollers) had worn out about 3/8". Sure the heat buildup on the axle had welded it on. About $120.00 in various parts and we're back on the road again.
To make sure the hub comes off easier if/when you need to remove it again in the future, put a light coat of grease on the hub/axle assy. Makes a world of difference...
