I just finished sharpening the blades on my Toro 267 H and Cub Cadet 2186 lawn tractors. In my opinion it is just too much work. I had to take off both decks. Does any one have any suggestions as to how to make this process easier? I don't want to use ramps because I only can get the Cub Cadet blades off with an impact wrench.

I am also looking for new lawn tractor or ZTR machines that have easy access to the blades and also to be able to clean under the deck each time I mow.

My Toro deck is suppose to be mounted or dismounted with out tools. However, I have to use a big bar in order to install the belt.

I find it easiest to use two angle bars and four cables connected to a wench, then lift with a hand crank. You can then walk underneath and do whatever you want. It's simple, cheap and simplifies maintenance. Oh yes, don't forget to put the 1/2 inch foam pipe insulation on to the angle iron or else it will scratch.

All you basically need is cable, four pulleys and a wench. Of course you will need some screw in hooks and a crimper, plus the crimp collars. It's a lot simpler than it seems.
