My mower is mowing no more....

Hi to all.. I have been online for about an hour trying to get some info about me STX 38 riding lawn mower... I was mowing last week when the blades just stopped. I did not hit anything and the belts are fine and I moved the main pulley by hand and it turns freely so I dont know what else to check. I bought the mower at the beginning of summer and have had some problems with it but its been running fine for the last 5 or 6 mowings.

Hello and Welcome to MLMF, bigkahuna!

I'm sure no expert but it sounds as though you may have a safety switch problem. Either the brake blade, seat switch or ignition position switch may have a bad or broken contact. If you have a volt/ohm meter you can put your key to the ON position and trace the leads one by one.

Some people may suggest using a jumper wire or other device to bypass these switches....I don't recommend doing this! They can be a real pain in the butt (the switches not the people:)) , but they are there to protect you and loved ones. Good luck!

Good suggestions by Mark. This might be something as simple as a loose ground wire or loose connection on the electric clutch.

Have you ever experienced the starting problem common to the STX38s, where the solenoid will click and it takes several turns of the key to activate the starter? If so, we can help you with that, too!

Welcome to the site!

It doesn't sound like there is power getting to the PTO.

My StX 38 that I am restoring ,started that selinoid click, what is the cure?
Thanks, Mark. I didn't get on here yesterday to help Doorkeeper get that info.

If you have any more questions or have any problems with the install, please let us know. That really should fix you right up.
