Purchased this one last week near Lafayette, Indiana
That is a nice 990. Could you get the vin. # on the right side of the dash (when sitting on the tractor).

My MTD 999 was retired from mowing duties after I got my ZTR

I know this is a mowing site, and I do have this stuff over at that "Tractor" site, but here is my MTD performing the duties it was truely designed for.

The Blade is a John Deere model off eBay. I adapted it to fit and use cables and pulleys to raise and lower it. (Still needs a little tweaking)

The "Driveway Groomer (jr)" works much better than these pictures would indicate. The weeds got away fom me last year before I got it. I tried roundup and fire, but until I started using this, it was a loosing battle.

The Snowblower was a Craigslist find. Works like a champ!

You may notice the chains in the "blaed" pictures are not in the "snowblower" pictures. I bought the chains shortly after these pictures were taken, and didn't take them off until June. (They work great in the dirt too!)

Maybe April 26, 1975. Just a guess.

Another possible route would be to pull the numbers from the engine shroud (assuming it still has the original engine). That should get you within a year or so.

Hey the rear end in your tractor is bullet proof. It makes 1,100 ft pounds of torque and can support 1,500lbs. It also has a limited slip differential.
