Hi Folks, Buckwheat here and this is my first post. I have an old Scott's lawn tractor that someone gave me. It's about ten years old or so, I'm trying to decipher the manufacturer date which is in code. The code is....97248. Any one have an idea of what that means?

It's a printed tag on the mower body with the model and serial number and the aforementioned code.

I did not find an explanation of the code. Wonder if it could be as simple as 8-24-1997?

You could go pull the engine code and get the date from the engine code if it is a Briggs.
