It can be done but it's just barely enough for light duty stuff.
IMHO, The more expensive ($60-70??) oxy/mapp setup is the better choice but it's something that works great if not used very often as the oxy cylinders at $10 a pop are only good for about 10 minutes of work.
I've only been able to braze very light weight metal with straight mapp gas. Heaviest I got to work was brazing the handle back on my garbage can lid which was basically two pieces of thin sheet steel. Other then that I repaired a garden fence and that was about it. It does seem to heat faster for soldering projects though.
