Hi gang,

Just moved into a new house with about 1.5 acres of lawn to cut, so its time for a new mower. I did landscaping about 15 years ago with a Walker mower, and that thing was phenomenal. I understand that's a commercial mower, and I'm looking for something cheaper here, but I do love the zero turn mowers with the levers for turning.

The lawn is mostly flat with only a few trees, and no other obstacles or small gaps to fit through.

Besides being under $3000 and having the option to add a bag, I don't have a lot of requirements.

I'm open to buying from anywhere, but my preference would be Home Depot or Lowes.

If it helps, here are my searches from those stores with my criteria checked:

Home Depot mowers that meet my criteria

Lowes mowers that meet my criteria

Any one have experience with any of those models, or out of all those brands (Club Cadet, Toro, Poulon, John Deere, Husqvarna, Troy-Bilt, Hustler), are some better than others?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

EDIT: Actually, if I could add one more thing, it would be a key start. I am so done with pull cords :)

Lowe's link worked.... The Home Depot however didn't....

If I had to purchase from Lowe's it would be the Hustler. Visiting my local Lowe's I never see one parked out front due to returns. That doesn't mean anything necessarily... But I do see mostly troy bilt parked out front with the occasional Husqvarna. JD I'm not sure on some of the features for the money. One biggie that sticks out to me is the Hustler @ both price points includes a FAB deck where as the JD even at $2999 still gives you a stamped deck. Little more HP along with a wider deck. These are three features that jump out at me.

Warranty? JD gives you a 2-yr / 120 hr. And Hustler gives a 3 yr warranty.

Most will also say it depends on if you have a dealer for either tractor close to you? Important to figure that out as well... Don't rely on Lowe's taking care of it for you. They either load it up and ship it to get repaired, Or refer you to a local dealer. I don't know if Hustler has a dedicated dealer near you. JD is more spread out.

Take it for what it's worth :2cents:

Be sure and let us know ultimately what you decide... Good luck!

I apologize. Try this as a copy/paste for Home Depot (it does a redirect if I make it a link):
Code:
www.homedepot.com/b/Outdoors-Outdoor-Power-Equipment-Riding-Lawn-Mowers-Zero-Turn-Riding-Mowers/46/50/N-5yc1vZc5akZ12lfZbwo5oZ1z0tlyhZ1z0u5u0Z1z0u5u7?NCNI-5&Ns=P_REP_PRC_MODE%7C0
Appreciate the advice, and good point about finding a nearby dealer for the brand I purchase.

That worked!

Me personally, I vote for Toro. While I'm a Cub enthusiast.... I don't know about their zero-turn line. Seen some models just a few short years after new and they don't seem to hold up.

Toro is pretty well know for zero-turn mowers these days. I especially like the option they give you with the Kawasaki add-on in the price range of $2999. They have one Poulan Pro offering.... Again not sure about that brand on zero-turn.

Others may give their opinion based on experience. Good luck on your search. Each one of us have been down this path before.... We're here if you have any questions. Thanks for asking! :2th:
