Lawn Boy Primer bulb question

7012 Views 5 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  bwdbrn1
I have two Lawn Boy Silver Series, self propelled Mod. # 10301, Ser. #4910994.

I need pics of the primer bulb, where it's mounted and how the hoses are routed. Neither machine had them when i got them and i have no idea how to hook them up.

Thanks
Rene

Welcome to MLMF Cohiba54.

It's been awhile since I looked through the Lawn Boy manual, but maybe your answer is in here somewhere. If not, I'm sure somebody more familiar with Lawn Boys will be a long to answer your question.

This exploded diagram might help a bit too. The primer is parts #20, 21 and 22.

Yea I've looked at these but there's not enough detail.

To everyone- I need pictures of the primer pump where it's suppose to be mounted, how many lines there are connected and where they connect it and the fuel tank.

I'm totaly lost on this one.
On your carburetor there should be 2 hose connections, 1 larger than the other. The smaller one is where your primer hose hooks up. The other end of the primer hooks up to the primer fitting. It's that simple. When you push the primer, it forces air into the carb bowl which pushes fuel up into the carb throat. Should not have any problem hooking it up.

Thanks Brad. It's one of those things that if you didn't take it apart or something was missing to start with, just just has no idea which end is up.

So there is a port on the carb with a hose barb. Is that correct?
Good morning Cohiba54. I know exactly what you are talking about. It's like trying to put together a puzzle when someone took the straight outer edge pieces out of the box. You can get it done, but it's sure easier when you have a reference to start from.

I just worked on the Lawn Boy of mine the other day. Like Brad said, there are two hoses to the carb, one bigger than the other. The bigger one is the fuel line while the other, smaller one, is the primer line.

The larger fitting on the carb was smooth, and the smaller, primer line fitting is barbed on the Lawn Boy I was working on. As for the primer end, the ones I've seen are just sort of the bulb, which also has a barbed end on it. The barb is poked through a hole in the shroud, and a friction disc of some sort is pushed over the barb on the other side of the shroud to hold it in place, and the end of the primer line is pushed onto the barbed end. How the line is routed will probably become more apparent once the beginning and ending points are known. Usually, as long as it doesn't come into contact with any moving parts, and there aren't any kinks in it, it should be good to go.

Hope that helps.
