John Deere F525 questions

Greetings,

I have a JD F525 that I have had for four years and it has been a great mower. I believe the starter has gone out on it so I have two questions.

1. What is the best repair/service manual to get to work on this thing?
2. How do you get the starter off the thing?

I know it isn't the battery as I pulled it and tested it on another machine and it worked great. I've checked and rechecked all the cables and switches and no go.
The model number is MOF525X012066.

Thanks for any and all response.

Welcome mowersmith! :)

If your planing on keeping the mower for a spell I would recommend getting the technical manual from John Deere. They are very strict on their copyright so it's really the only way to get a manual with the exact wiring, any Kawasaki engine changes that were spec'd by Deere plus details of the rest of the mower chassis.

You can order either a CD or a paper version of the technical manual here:

If you are not already aware of it, John Deere's online Parts Catalog is a great tool for finding exploded views and part numbers for your mower:

.. and it's a free place to start your research! ;)
