I have a b&s engine model 143302 type 502550 and serial 104382. I have been unable to locate any info on this motor except that it is probably a 6hp. I was trying to figure out what this came off of, what year, and any other info. I thought it might be off a wheel horse since I had one similar before. It is origional factory painted red with some stickers still visible. Has breaker point ignition, glass bowl under the attached gas tank, horizontal shaft, and all complete. I may also be interested in selling it if it does not match up to anything I have. I would greatly appreciate any help. Thank you.

Welcome to MLF!! :)

Nice Briggs engine you have there. Briggs actually has most of their original manuals that you can download directly from their site.

Regarding the year of it, you should be able to look it up here on the ASECC site via their number charts.

Thanks for the help but I came up with no results for my model number on either of the links you guys gave me. Not sure why. I tried the model number and the model number/type combined but still nothing. Thank you for your time to help me.
This engine is listed as a 14 cu. in. du bearing not ball bearing. The serial number is supposed to be used to determine the date of manufacture; I can find out that info in a day or two.
Antique Operator Manuals | Frequently Asked Questions | Customer Support | Briggs & Stratton

You have to scroll down on the page a bit, under "Where can I obtain Antique Operator Manuals?", then click on the grey box with numbers "100200 to 460700". That'll open up a page where you'll find a selection for "142300 to 142497, 143300 to 143497." Click on that and you'll get your manual. I don't think you can save it, but Briggs will send you a pdf upon request if they have one.

You could try filling in the blanks and contacting them here.

Sorry I haven't been back in a while. The engine that you have is a 63' model that was used for water or trash pump applications. This engine has a crank that is obsolete for any newer applications and is NLA. Unless you want to try and make it work on something you might better off selling it.
