Just my thoughts!
I wish there were more pics on daily post. I truly enjoy the pics as much as the intro's, question's and any comments. I honestly think everyone enjoys looking at mower pics as well as the country side & terrain behind the mower's.
I have never been to NY,LA,CA and many other parts of the USA and Canada, SO , I like to see pics of our toy's in the different(to me) area's.
Maybe I post to many pic's on MTF, but the pics tell my story better then I can with word's.
Also , I think part's lawn & garden tractors and mowers make a good photo.
OK! now I feel better. time to go to the play garage and work on a hot rod.
everyone have a good day.

Heck, I agree with you DrBaily. I enjoy seeing the photos of folks' yards and sheds, etc, too. Maybe we better get a "Mowers In Action" thread going. I'll get the camera out (just had it at the Chicago Marathon over the weekend) and get some photos of the mowers at my place. Thanks for the thought!

Boy, that was interesting with the grasshoppers. They really did some damage, didn't they? Sorry to see that. Now will any of the destruction be permanent or should everything come back next year?

I never saw that many grasshoppers but there was one year the Japanese Beetles were eating things real bad here. We sprayed bug killer up in the ornamental trees and the ground turned black from the beetles falling out. Still nothing though compared to your grasshopper damage.

Do you have any birds down there that eat them?

This past year we had more then the normal amount of Cicadas flying around. For a couple of weeks seemed like every time I was out in the yard for awhile one would land on me and start singing. The robins and redbirds were going after them pretty good. Also horse flies were more abundant for a few weeks. There was one inside the screen on the back porch and a redbird nearly exhausted himself trying to get through the screen after him. I did not think of it at the time but my digital camera can take short videos. I should have filmed it. It was funny watching the birds frustration. I'll bet he tried for a good 10 minutes to get that fly. :D

We had a pretty good crop of grasshoopers here in Nebraska this year. When I would be out mowing, there was a small cloud of them all around me. My wife found this stuff (I can't remember what it was now) that I spread on the fields that they were supposed to eat; that cut them up inside. Then, when another grasshopper eats a dead one, it cuts them up too. I can't say that it worked completely in that we still had grasshoppers, but it did seem to get better. At least it didn't get worse.

It seems every year there is a bug that shows up in great numbers. This Fall, the South side of the house is covered with box elder bugs. And ladybugs! You have to shoo them away before you can open the door to go in. Going out, you just hope for the best. Hopefully, once the fields are harvested, they will subside.

Maybe it's a sign of the Apocalypse...

That's another one we get bad some years but not many here this year. I had several customers a few years ago in the hills South of town that were using shop vacs to get them off the ceilings, walls, and floors of the inside of the house despite all the doors and windows being screened.

Mr. Kitty doesn't like the looks of that fallen limb, either. Appears you have some cleanup around your place.

Very handsome cat you have there. Himalayan?

Siamese (if thats the right spelling) someone dumped her close by. I fed her and she made this her home. It's the smartest cat I have ever seen.
She owns the place now, my dog,a Japanese chin, has disappeared, about three weeks ago.I guess he is gone.
After Katie had her second litter of kittens she got introduced to our vet.

Sorry to hear your dog is still missing Doc. :(

Highs winds, several possible small tornadoes and and about an inch of rain came to our area today. Gusts only reached into the low 40's here at home so we got lucky. I was out in the pickup truck on the job and punched through the squall line while on the highway. Could barely see beyond the hood for a good 10 miles. Glad I was not driving the two UPS double trailer trucks we passed during the thick of it. Bet those things are a real handful in high winds.
