john deere lx 255 hydro question...does it hurt the trans any if i move the mower by pushing it?..there is a lever in the back that is labeled (pull to move mower manually)..reason i ask is i've been reading that it's not a good idea to move a hyrostatic mower like that...maybe not a good idea to move it without pulling the lever? i'm new to a hydro so forgive if i ask some dumb questions

Yeah, when you manually push the mower, pull that lever out as it 'disengages' the hydro. That's what the lever is designed for.

Pushing the tractor without pulling the lever out will not be an easy task.

I've never tried pulling a tractor without releasing the hydro, but I'm sure it would not be easy and more than that it could be damaging the the hydro system. Just remember to pull out the lever every time you want to push the tractor around and you'll be fine; you'll know it if it's not pulled out cause it won't budge.
