Hi i have a Husqvarna YTH1842 with a Briggs and Stratton 33r777-0003G1 18.5 intek. Got it out to use this spring and was having problems starting so I bought a new battery,starter and solenoid with no luck! Had it looked at and was told it was a compression issue a release or something? Anyway they said $400 to fix and that just doesn't sound right,nor will I put $400 into fixing an engine Anyway any help feedback or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! TIA

Watch a few of them and see if you think it's something you want to attempt.

They said it was the compression release valve and shop said $400 to fix which is utterly ridiculous! Had a guy on FB tell me he repairs B&S and Kohler engines all the time and that the part was a $30 part and a few hour job

The Inteks I have had apart use a weight on the camshaft to bump the intake or exhaust valve (don't remember which) open a little. $30 would be an aftermarket cam, a Briggs cam would cost around $100.
