HUSQVARNA AutoMower

Growning up my Dad had two obsessions, his coffee (espresso) and his Landscaping. We always had an amazing lawn and thanks to him I have also developed an obsession with good espresso. As he has gotten older he has been investing in more gadgets and things that automate his life. His manual espresso machine has been replaced with an automatic one that even grinds the beans for him and the vaccume replaced with a roomba that the Dog HATES!

A few weeks ago he was talking about picking up one of these HUSQVARNA auto mowers that do all the work for you. I am a little concerned for one for the dog and for two if it will just be a gimicky waste of money.

Anyone seen or used one of these before?

I haven't used one myself, but they look way cool!
Well personally I wouldn't buy one. It always mowing and you yard will have alot of stripes in it. Be tall grass then cut. Look like dots everywhere. I would rather sepnd the time mowing it myself than doing that honestly. How big is your yard?

What happens if it gets off track...hits a pothole...cuts off the flowers? I would be cautiuos about buying one too.
I wonder how many of those things it would take to mow 6 acres?
If it hits a flower in my yard I would get blamed on the mower.

That's a good point. Don't let it near your flower bed.:D
The wire they show being staked into the ground is what keeps it out of the flower beds (or swimming pool). I always wanted to try one of these, but its just recently that they have become more-or-less affordable.

I don't think it would do really well in the wet, though.
I guess there is the worry that the mower could turn out like the maxium over drive movie and take over the lawn!

I have a YTH150 that the freewheel control does not seem to return to the engaged position; the mower runs but does not move.

That sounds like it renders it useless? I take it you are not happy with the unit then?
They take the fun out of mowing . :)
