I don't have one, but I occasionally use one that my neighbor has. In terms of quality, it's very nice. Nothing has gone wrong with it, the 6.5 hp GCV190 starts easy everytime, the variable SP works just fine.

But I don't like it. It's got that Xenoy (resin) deck. It's SUPER light. So light, in fact, that it almost feels like a toy. It tends to bounce around on the lawn (no weight to it), and it feels like there's little substance. Again, it's a very high quality mower, but I just don't like how it feels.

It's like a car where you just can't get the driving position JUST right, between the wheel, seat, and pedals. Objectively, it's an excellent mower, but it just doesn't feel quite right using it.

I have had one since 2005. HRX721HXA.

Very impressed with Honda warranty, performance and service. Had some issues/complaints with this earlier model year and took it to a dealer. They rebuilt the diverter door on the rear so grass, in mulch mode with the door closed, wouldn't build up behind the door, adjusted the carb and idle speed to factory specs and there was no charge. This was almost two years after the intial purchase.

Since then, we have moved to an area that is very rocky and we only use it on selected areas of the property due to fears of throwing a rock and breaking that Xenoy deck.

I'm looking right now to buy another Honda but am disappointed they do not offer the larger 190cc engine like is what is on the HRX series on a mower with the metal deck. The HRR series is only available with the 160cc engine and we mulch year around so want the larger, higher torque engine.

Does anyone have experience with the HRR series Hondas with that strange looking speed control wherein you use your thumbs on the handlebars to control speed ?

I have an HRX that has the cruise control and that thumb thingy just looks weird and hard to use. Adding a second mower to the stable.

Thanks.

I have one and absolutely love it. It is super super smooth, quite and 'Lexus' like.

My Dad bought a brand new Commercial in 1990 and still runs and works perfect as can be today.

They are very good quality mowers.
