This popped up on Craigslist near me, I've never seen a honda that looked like this before apart from Bruce's electric 17".

I'm assuming it's uncommon, Rare even. The guy want's $40.

Yes, Honda made three 17" mowers. The HR173 had a gas engine mounted on the plastic deck. The HR17E had and electric motor on the same plastic deck as the HR173 and the HR17 had the same gas engine as the HR173 mounted on an aluminum deck.
Neat looking anyways.
Have to ask the seller where the air cleaner assembly is.
i wouldnt pass that thing up, thats a collectors item. should clean up well. i have never seen one on hartford craigslist before
Here's what the HR173 model indication means:

HR - Honda Rotary
17 - 17"
3 - GV100 engine

The other two 17" models were the HR17PDA and HR17E. The HR17 is the same on these as the HR173.

The PDA stands for:
P - Push model
D - Recoil start
A - USA market

The E stands for:
E - Electric

Guess who made the electric motor on the HR17E?

Briggs & Stratton!
Yep, I had to look at that label on mine several times before it sunk in. The handle switch carries a Briggs and Stratton part number too. Unfortunately, it is NLA.
That's kind of goofy! Most people don't realize that Briggs makes a lot of electric motors. The engineering club at my school has an electric car with a Briggs electric motor.

I used to have a Toro snowblower with a Briggs motor in it. It actually ended up burning out. I was really disappointed.
I've sent the seller two messages, but no response to either of them.:dunno:

i found an HR17E in my backyard when i moved to my new house. This thing looked like it spent quite a few years outdoor (cold winter and rainy summer). i first thought this thing will never work by the look of it...but damn. Never had a lawn mower that cutt so good!

Like the one on my electric Didier 20 wood splitter...

I have two of these Honda HR173 that where given to me and I can not get either to kick over for me, I've replaced to Carby and the Coil & it still won work and I'm stuck why I've repaired over 150 lawn mowers but these things are driving me nuts
