Hello all,

As I approach my 40th birthday this year I find myself reflecting more on my childhood. One memory I cannot shake is mowing my neighbor's lawn with his 2-cycle Lawnboy. I can actually remember the smell of the fresh cut grass mixed with the oil/gas exhaust and it makes me smile. So, in an effort to recapture my youth I am on the prowl. Craigslist seems to be a pretty good source for these golden machines. There are a few to consider but I have been out of the Lawnboy loop for a while so I don't know which would be the best find. Here we go:

S21BSR - http://kansascity.craigslist.org/grd/1858413567.html

10515 - http://kansascity.craigslist.org/grd/1825488938.html

8157 (Lawnboy Supreme) - http://kansascity.craigslist.org/grd/1856111329.html

And just for fun!? - http://kansascity.craigslist.org/grd/1875417903.html

Your thoughts?????

There is a Lawnboy commercial listed on 7-30, for $200. Very much worth the price.

Of the 4 you listed, the last would be fun to restore, the supreme is bad because you can only bag or mulch, not discharge. I would say the first 2 would fit the bill nicely.

The commercial I mentioned above might actually belong to one of the members at Mytractorforum. Once again, that is a nice one.

Good Luck! You'll be glad when you get that new mower home.

Thanks for the advice Brad. I also found a 1994 10301 in absolutely perfect condition with bagger for $100, but I have heard mixed feelings about the V engine.

What are your thoughts about the V engine?

Well, I have heard some good and some bad. If it's in that good of shape it would probably be worth the money. If you take good care of it and check the nuts/bolts regularly, you should be OK. Seem to have quite a bit of power and give a nice cut.

Personally I like the old old ones the best. They were light and cut grass very well. Do not care for the newer stuff. Give me an old A series Iron Horse or C series Iron Horse and maybe a D series any day.Hey what do I know? To each his own.
