Tell me what you know about them?

A friend of mine wants to sell me one that belonged to his late father, he said it is in excellent condition and was serviced every year and has all the paperwork.

He is asking $50.00 ...

What's your opinions? i remember growing up my Dad had a lawn boy and he still to this day says they are the best lawn mowers

Thanks for any advise, i currently have a Craftsman 21" cut 4.75 push mower but would really like the self propelled since i have a hill in my front yard.

First of all, welcome to the forum!

I'm not particularly expierianced with LB's, but I think $50 for a 1999 Lawn-Boy self propelled lawn mower in the condition you described sounds like a very reasonable price.

$50 is a good price for any running mower, if it's 2-cycle self propelled Lawnboy even better, love LB. Have a good one. Geo

Ditto what the others said. Could not replace it with a new one for that and unless it has been mowing a big yard those years it could have a lot of hours left in it before needing any major repairs since it has been maintained yearly.

Thanks .. it is a 6.5hp 2-cycle engine, i thinks he said it's a gold series? I am planning on buying it for sure ! a friend of mine said $50 is a great deal for that mower

Yeah! Buy it or I will. That's my favorite mower of all time and it was stolen from me in Lawton, OK when I went in the house for a glass of iced tea years ago. 3 speed transmission, lots of power. Make sure you ask about the attachments. These came with rear bagger, side discharge plate and mulch plate.
