Hi everyone, I'm new here!

I've just bought a new mower and need some tips on its use.

I got a good deal on a brand new last seasons model Harrier Pro 41 and I've got to say that although it's a beautiful machine, the owners manual is rubbish. I'm guessing they don't expect a domestic customer to buy one and professionals won't need to read the manual! I'm a little confused about the choke/engine speed lever. My previous mower was a Honda Izzy and didn't have a level to adjust engine speed. It says when the engine has warmed up, move the lever to the off position but there is nothing labelled as off. I was wondering if it is the position I've circled? :Thinking hard:

I've attached a photo of the lever I've got on mine. It's a Honda engine if that helps.

Also....why would i need to reduce the engine revs? Is there a purpose for this functionality.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Welcome to MLF Mancmowerguy. We don't have any Hayter mowers here in the USA, but my Honda powered mower has the same speed control as yours. I push the throttle lever forward to the choke position, pull the rope to start the motor, wait 10-15 seconds and pull the throttle lever back to the rabbit mark for cutting. Pull the lever all the way below the turtle position to stop the motor OR release the bail handle to stop the motor.

I have set the throttle to where your mark is when sucking up leaves in the fall. The slower engine speed keeps the leaves from blowing all over.

This video shows the choke forward and pulled slightly back after starting at the 3:50 time in the video.

Grass grows all over the world and you will find members here from those same places. The internet has no boundaries.

I have seen the UK, Australia, Japan and others stop buy with questions/answers.

Hi there good folks
my grass cutting career began with the proxy purchase of a top class Hayter cast aluminium bodied (yes aluminium not aluminimum bodied) Briggs and Stratton'd 4hp beauty who I decline to name.

For may a year I used said un-named Hayter and it returned Sterling service,

I don't recall changing the oil too often but ye gods I don't believe it ever broke down in over a decades of use.

I loved that bloody machine... even though I was only ten years old when I was inducted into a form of servitude which bore absolutely zero fruit.
