quality mowers, tillers, snowblowers

IIRC they went out of business in the early to mid 80's

I remember seeing a peculiar little Hahn RER at a lawn tractor boneyard once. It looked like it was built fairly well. I snagged the front tires off of it for a tractor of mine.

Fellow by the name of Fred Adams started the Eclipse Mower Company in 1902 in Prophetstown, IL. They built outstanding mowers. My understanding is Eclipse was bought out by Hahn, and they moved the operation to Evansville, Indiana in 1961. 1959 was the last year Eclipse mowers were uniquely painted. In 1960 the Eclipse line adopted the yellow and white Hahn color scheme and still bore only the name of Eclipse. They went by the name of Hahn/Eclipse for a bit after the move. They eventually dropped the Eclipse part.

that is pretty right (post above) hahn bought eclipse and anfter that they became hahn eclipse then after time toro offered to buy them basically to put them out of business and when hahn sed no they changed back to hahn for the finall showdown and created the Hahn GT seris including the 600 700 800 900 then toro went over the edge and since the last project money was low and not selling as hoped toro offered again and they accepted then that was the end all extra was destroyed right then

Fellow I know just got himself a Hahn-Eclipse reel mower, but he isn't sure of the year it was made, probably without researching the engine. Just out of curiosity I did a little googling of Hahn and found that there is a face book page for Hahn mowers. Maybe there's some information to be found through the followers of that page. I don't have a face book account myself. Also learned that Toro acquired the Hahn Equipment Company back in the 90s when that company was trying to diversify. I can't find anything specific to the mowers Hahn made.
