GT235 Issues

Hello everyone, I have a 2001 John Deere GT235 and had a couple issues yesterday. I cut the grass and everything went fine as usual. I shut the mower off and about ten minutes later I went to start it up and move it. Battery was completely dead, so I jumped it with my four wheeler and it started right up, but then my PTO wouldn't engage? so the battery is completey dead but if I jump it, it starts right up, but the PTO won't engage either.... none of the belts are busted just nothing happens at all. I just don't see why they would both quit at the same time? Could it just be the battery?

Probably the reason that the PTO doesn't engage is because of the electronic clutch. The clutch has to have a certain amount of amperage to engage. I would reccommend that you connect a battery charger and charge the battery completely full till the charger stops, then the clutch should engage. As far as the battery, check to make sure that it is properly grounded. I'm not sure what could have caused the battery to drain so suddenly without something unusual making contact with the battery terminals. See if the battery holds its' charge after you charge it full; the bettery may need to be replaced.
