A neighbor gave me this rider last week. Sears Craftsman 917.250520. He said it was 25 years old. He said it was blowing the fuse and then his kids stuffed the gas tank with mulch and he was just going to buy a new one. I was able to clean the tank out and installed a new battery. As soon as I turn the key switch, the amp gauge dives to the negative side. I shut it off before the fuse blew. How do I go about finding this short? I unplugged the PTO switch and it did the same thing. Also, I unplugged the seat switch and tested it for continuity and got it and also got continuity when I touched the the two receptacle ends. That does not sound right. I thought the seat switch completed a circuit when you sat on it so the engine would fire. Where would I find an electrical circuit printout for this unit?
Thanks
Michael
