ok friends looking for a bodgey repair whiz here.

our rider mowers aren't decked out with lots of solenoids whatever so they won't start unless they are facing west or something chuckle.

anyhow was a mower mechanic for a good time around 25 years ago, so when a new friend asked if i could fit a push button starter switch to his murray my experience said why not, so i bought an appropriate switch never to ask for recompense.

anyhow: B&S 16.5OHV HP
family: YBSXS.5012VP 274532
model: 313777 type: 0134-EI Code: 000505ZD

murray model 42576X92

how can i bypass all these devices it also seems to have a flywheel brake as well? it has a new starter solenoid fitted, is there a way i can bypass all that i need to so i can fit this push button switch.

if not the mower is then trash as we or he has no money to pay an exorbitant repair.

please keep it simple as! i was a mechanic not an auto electrician.

it has more wires that an automobile harness. for what it does.

many thanks in advance this is my last try before i go back to friend and say sorry beyond me.

Welcome to the forum Len! :howdy:
Forum rules prevent us from telling you specifically how to disable the safety switches. Just like the manufactures we have to be careful of liability lawsuits among other things.

Is there specifically a shut down problem? Thing is by going push button start you still have to have a way to shut it down. There should be a way to wire push button start yet keep the safety switches operational.

Sorry about that. It's partsandsservice.com look up your model number under Murray - tractors (5012) models and go down the list till you find your model number for the parts breakdown. The last figure is the electrical diagram. Hope it helps.
