Pull the fuel line off of the open tank,make sure you have fuel to the pump,then try it.Mine did the same thing a week ago,fine now.
Fuel pump not pulling thru gas when run dry
I have the following Exmark Lazer Z:

I ran out of gas last night. Refilled the tanks but the fuel pump will not pull the gas through to the engine. Local dealer said that exmark had a problem with the inline fuel filter and replaced it on their newer models. Is there a workaround fix so that I can get this monster started?
