I recently replaced my mower deck belt and this was the first time in 6 years I noticed there is another belt up under there. I'm assuming this is the drive belt. Is there a replacement interval I should be following for that or is it like the deck belt.... replace when fails. Thanks for your responses.

Have a look at the belt if its cracked or frayed replace it ...I replace mine when they brake ..But i also know people who replace them every 2 years

I replace mine when they break , which is not really a good way of doing it , as it's always when you're mowing , then have to do 50 mile round trip to get replacement .

I prefer to catch them before breaking so I can replace at leisure. When they get some deep cracks I go ahead and change it. Trouble is when you start putting things off, next thing you know you have several problems all come due at the same time.

I know what you mean..... $20 here and $25 there isn't bad. Put it all into one fix and the wife isn't happy!!
