Hi ,
I have a 1997 [Huskee], MTD, Model 14AS833H131, 18.5 hp, 46" cut.
The drive belt is worn out after many years of use, I ordered the belt that shows to be correct 954-0461, 7/16"x78.25"
It is over 3" too long. I took the old belt off and measured it and it is 74".
I am not sure why there is such a difference.

Also you can see in the picture the belt as it comes off the transmission pulley it goes under a small metal roller, I have never seen a setup like this. is this factory?, or should the belt go straight to the engine pulley on that side?

Any help would be appreciated.

thanks

Thanks everyone for you comments and the file. I tend to agree with Mark, I think it was intended to be a spacer for the spring. I measured around the pulleys without using the spacer and ordered a belt 72" long. It ran like this for all these years with no problem, the spacer is on a threaded bolt so I doubt it was ever intended to be used as a roller. Again I appreciate all the help. Will let you know if it works when I get the belt.
