my mower starts and runs on carb spray but not on its own. the primer does not squirt fuel. i removed, disassembled, cleaned with carb spray and compressed air, verified needle and seat are open with float down and closed with float when at top of its travel. fuel is supplied to the bowl as verified by gas running out out plastic bowl when fuel hose is removed. seems like if i could prime it it should run. it was running and starting great one weekend, wouldn't start the next. help please.

Sure sounds like something plugged yet in the carb or perhaps a crack in the primer bulb.

If all else fails Sears lists the complete carburator available for replacement.

the bulb is not cracked or hardened and is seated tightly. i have considered replacing the carb but wonder if that will solve the priming issue or is something else needed for that?

I would hold off on replacing carb just yet. Has to be an obstruction or open valve for this to be happening. Make sure that you are getting fuel in the carb bowl, then look at the primer passages. Has to be able to draw, then push. Make sure that is all happening.
