Craftsman 7000 pro

You definitly want a good quality belt on it. Most of these hydro's are not really serviceable, but you can remove it from the machine, tip it over and drain the oil. Refill with 20w50 synthetic oil and you may buy a little more time on it.

Check to see if the hydrostat bypass valve is opened. This will be a rod of sorts that is pulled to disengage the hydrostats to allow them to be moved while the engine is off.
The operator's manual should show where they are located.
