i inherited a running tractor. problem is, it won't stop until it hits something. there's no help i could discern from the manuals online. i saw brake rods? but nothing about a disc or drum. how do do these things stop, and how much trouble would it be to fix? any help appreciated. thanks

If there is no external disk and pads on the side of the transaxle then it is likely an internal braking system. (Inside the transaxle.) Looking on Sears site I see the brake lever going back there but can't tell anything further.

It may also be a band brake on the transaxle. I know some of the older JD tractors have band brakes on them. But with this being a Craftsman, I'm not to sure about that.

i know it's a techumsa engine and transaxle. but if it's all internal i'm s.o.l. since i wouldn't be able to get a gasket kit if i took it apart. sears says they're both out of production.
