Can we do a ZTR thing on this site?

Hi everyone. I am also a carry over from My TractorForum. Thanks for the heads up e-mail. On THAT site I have an MTD Yardman 999 Garden Tractor. I started out mowing 4 acres with it, but eventually moved up to an Ariens 1640 ZTR. I still use the MTD for "tractor duties", but IMHO, mowing, at least large areas, is best done on a machine dedicated to the task. I suggested adding a ZTR forum to the "tractor" site, but it didn't get much play. Understandable, I guess since that site focuses more on ground engaging activities. But this site has "mower" in the title, so I'm going to ask the question once more. If you are mowing more than half an acre and you've never tried a ZTR, call your dealer and set up a demo ride. Most good dealers will bring one (or more) ZTRs to your property and let you see for yourself how much better they are. The blade rotation speed on a ZTR is much faster than a tractor mower. The ground speed is generally tempered more by the bounce than by the cut quality. (at least for me)

So how about it? Can we dedicate some space for that "other" mower?

I agree Yardman. I have a Grasshopper. I'm a member over at the tractor forum too. Unfortunately, there was no listing for this ZTR. It is a lawnmower, so I think there should be a category specifically for the Grasshopper.
Hope to see it in the future. Thanks
Ah yes, grasshopper...

At this point, I'd be happy with a general ZTR section. They do have unique properties and challenges compared to "tractor" mowers. But maybe, if there is enough interest, it will develope into ZTR by brand.
You know what, I don't see a problem with that request. As a matter of fact, we have a gentleman asking for input on ZTR machines at this time. If you don't see the new forum in the next couple of days, PM me and remind me!
more brands ?

Guys -

Is the focus for this forum for small residential mowers or should there be something for larger walk behinds? I know you don't want too many sub-forums with little or no activity but what about one for "commercial" or "large walk behinds"? Or at least "Other"? Maybe one for the "hydraulic" guys.

I have a Ransomes Bob-Cat (48"). It's over 20 years old but I'm trying to keep it running. Scag is a big name but I see nothing on them here.

Just my 2 cents.

I'm with you guys on the Zero Turns and Commercial mowers. I'm sure these folk's here (at mylawnmower forum) will take care of this issue for us. Looking forward to it!
I will work on adding a ZTR section today. Maybe break it off into commercial mowers and large walk behinds with sub forums that cater to the different types. I am hesitant about adding too many more brand specific forums right now if there is not enough traffic on the site yet to fill the sections up with information.
Hey, fellas, how about we put a section in the General Lawnmower Discussion area covering, ZTR and Commercial? Sort of a catch all, as a lot of the bigger walkbehinds and ztr come from the same companies, many probably have the same drive systems, etc? Would that be sufficient? Or do you think a section for each?

The general area will probably be sufficient for the time being. As long as it could be expanded when the need arises, thanks!
Thanks for posting that Brad! This forum is building slow and strong. :)
